Happy Last Day of School!

Thank you for all of the sweet gifts and cards throughout the week. I felt so spoiled!

I've been so lucky with the group of kids that I go this year. They are all so sweet and such a mellow group of kids. They are all special in their own ways and have amazing journies ahead of them.

I look forward seeing them in the halls next year while they are in 4th grade.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer. Feel free to reach out to me if you need anything!

End of Year Video Info
The file that the movie is an mp4. If you can’t play it on one device, try another. It should eventually work on at least something!

I also posted the video as an Unlisted link on YouTube. You can only access it with the link, and you don’t need a password like Private accounts.
{Make sure you type it in with no spaces and the capitals are capitalized. If it doesn’t work, check the zeros, L’s and I’s.}

If you have a flashdrive, I also included a folder of all the pictures that were in the slideshow just in case there was anything in particular you wanted to get printed.

Here is the link to my Google Drive folder of those pictures as well, just in case.

EduKits Save You Time!
Annoyed by Back to School supplies shopping? Get frustrated because you can't find what you need? Well, Edukits have you covered.

I personally think they are great; they put together all the school supplies for the upcoming school year in one box and have them delivered by Meet the Teacher Day.

Help Fund a DonorsChoose.Org Project for Ms. Meredith's Class
When thinking about tools to help enhance the classroom instruction for next year, I wrote a grant for a classroom Ipad. Often times, there are better capabilities that the Ipad has that the Chrome Book can't do. With a classroom Ipad, learning can be captured in other ways.

DCL Summer Reading Program

Douglas County Libraries always has a great summer reading program. I've been doing it every summer since I was in 3rd grade (I STILL have my old library card!).

I encourage you to sign up the whole family. They always have great incentives for reading over the summer and it helps keep the kid's minds sharp and ready for the new school year!

-Naomi Meredith

Readers @ Play Starts Soon!

Our 2017 Summer Reading Program, Readers @ Play, begins on Saturday, June 3.

Kids 12 and under are encouraged to read for 720 minutes. They will receive a free book if they do. Summer Reading is for grown-ups, too! Readers ages 13 and up can read 900 minutes to finish and be entered into a gift card prize drawing.
Because you signed up last year, you already have a Wandoo Reader account and can pre-register for the program this year. Lucky duck!
Let's Get Started!

We heard you! New to the program this year: Family Management Tool.

With this new tool, you'll be able to manage all household accounts in one place — for example, logging minutes read, finishing the challenge, etc.
Learn How Here!

One last thing...

Once you have registered, visit any Douglas County Libraries location starting Saturday, June 3, to pick up your registration prizes and log (if you prefer a paper log to tracking online).

Come one, come all for our Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 3, from 10AM-12PM. There will be carnival games, face painting, balloon artists, snacks and more.

During the party, you can pick up your registration prizes from Chipotle, Garden of the Gods, and Colorado Rapids.

Please let us know that you'll be attending by RSVPing below.

Happy to help.

If you have any questions about the process, stop in to any of our locations to ask a staff member for help, call us at 303-791-7323, or email us
Summer Reading Tip
Access to books is the best way to combat the “summer slide.” Kids who have books around them find books they want to read. The more they read, the less they slide. Douglas County Libraries offers premium, exciting reading choices for all ages, all year long. Our staffers are excited to suggest their favorites too. Come to the library and fight the slide!

Weekly Reminders 5/22-26

Exciting news! After many months of searching and filling out a lot of paperwork, I am finally a member of the Homeowners Club! I purchased a cute condo not too far away  {so I'll still be here at GRE next year.} Home Depot and Target are definitely going to be my best friends this summer as I make my house a home.

Class Picnic & Sale Day Tomorrow, Wednesday, 5/24

Class Picnic-12:20-1:00 If you are available, we will be eating lunch outside and we would love some company.  Please have students bring a sack lunch or you can bring them lunch on that day! Blankets and chairs to sit on are encouraged.

Sale Day- 1:15-2:40
Students will be selling their products and shopping for items that other students created.  There will be 4 shifts: two for shopping and two for selling. Please have them bring their product and make sure there is enough for the two selling shifts. Parents are welcome to shop.  I will give you classroom money when you check in.

**My class will set up in the Gold Mine Room upstairs so we are close to the other 3rd grade classes.

If you are able to stay a few extra minutes afterwards to help us carry items back downstairs, that would be wonderful and much appreciated!

Opportunity for a new pet
With their profits from Sale Day, students in our class will have the chance to shop at my store next week.

I will be auctioning off the class beta fish and tadpoles. {Food will be provided; tanks will not.}

Last Scholastic Book Order for the School Year, Due by May 19
Grab some awesome books for summer. There are some great selections that would be perfect for rainy days and road-trips. I get the majority of my books from Scholastic because they are such an awesome deal.

I will be sending in the online order May 19 so they will arrive in time before the last day of school. Click the 'Scholastic' tab of the blog for direct access to online ordering.

Permission for Showcasing Student Work
Mrs. Fleet, Ms. McMillan, and I will be presenting at an educational technology conference to other teachers this summer. We will be speaking about the tech tool, Seesaw, and how it can be used with students. In turn, we would like to showcase student samples and the experiences that they've had with Seesaw.

If you do not want your student's work to be showcased, please let me know.

Little plants being sent home this week
For our science unit, Life Cycles, students began growing little plants in class to observe the similarities and differences between them while conducting an experiment using the scientific process.

There is a kidney bean plant, corn and pumpkin. The plants are beginning to grow out of their starter kit so they need to be replanted. :)
